This cheese sauce is done in less than 30 minutes and can be used for mac and cheese, fondue, as a spread and even more.


Most people say, they could not give up on cheese when going vegan or they really miss the cheese flavour and texture when cutting out dairy products. If you are one of them or you just like a really savoury, creamy sauce for your pasta, you definitely need to try this all-purpose-vegan-cheese-sauce!

For about 2-3 portions you need:

  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 cup soaked cashews
  • 1ts garlic powder
  • 1ts onion powder
  • 1ts salt
  • 2TB nutritional yeast


Soak the cashews for at least 20 minutes in warm water, then rinse well.

Peel potatoes, carrot and onion and cube roughly. Boil water in a large pot and let the veggies simmer for about 10 minutes. Safe about 11/2 cups of the boiling water.

Combine all ingredients, including the water in your blender and blend until creamy. Mix with macaroni or pasta of your choice and sprinkle with paprika powder before serving.

One portion of this cheese sauce has about the following nutritional values: 334kcal, 28g carbohydrates, 3.7g sugar, 21g fat, 12g protein, 2.7g fiber, 16% of the daily recommended dose of iron and 13% of calcium.
